The
Stop, Look, Listen Bible Study Method
What
we want to do is study the Bible and share what we learn with
each other. This web site serves as a place for us to collect
what we are learning in order to share it with others. We
will end up with a living Bible commentary, Bible dictionary,
Bible encyclopedia, study guide and lesson planner.
This
site has been prepared so that you can begin a serious, thorough
study of the Bible for yourself. What we are doing is trying to
provide some ideas to get you started.
The
most important thing is to gather as many ideas as you can about
a passage and then measure what you have gathered in the light
of what we already know about Scripture.
Finally,
we want to submit what we've learned to other Christians to keep
us all in balance. We won't compromise on the fundamentals of
the faith but in other areas we have a lot to learn from each
other.
| Let's
get started! |
| Step
1 |
Read
the Bible... |
| Step
2 |
Use
a highlighter pen to color-code ideas in your Bible which
stand out to you. |
| Step
3 |
Find
the book of the Bible you are reading on this site. Use the
questions to begin your own study. Some words have links on
them which you can click to do further research. |
| Step
4 |
Study
the Background and Focus pages for the book. Use the Master
Categories page to find suggestions
for matching categories to Bible concepts. |
| Step
5 |
Don't
forget to enter your insights for the rest of us to read! |
| Step
6 |
Ask
the Lord to help you apply what you have learned to your life
so that it will be real when you share it with others. |
| Step
7 |
Use
the insights you have gathered to begin a daily personal or
family Bible time. |
You
will find that as you go through the Bible this way you are learning
to THINK your way through the Word!
As opposed to always being taught by others, this will be a new
experience for you.
The
Bible is the best commentary on the Bible. You will discover that
you don't have to be a Greek/Hebrew expert to find the answer
to difficult passages.
You
will be a man/woman of the Word and "ready always to give
an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that
is in you."
